Spirit and Truth: Frankfort 5/18/14
Call to Worship
We begin each week with a scripture reading known as the Call to Worship. This serves as a reminder that all true worship begins with God –He is the one who initiates this divine conversation with His people and we respond.
Scripture Reading: Psalm 41:1-2, 5-6
Clap your hands, all peoples! Shout to God with loud songs of joy! For the Lord, the Most High, is to be feared, a great king over all the earth. God has gone up with a shout, the Lord with the sound of a trumpet. Sing praises to God, sing praises! Sing praises to our King, sing praises!
Song: “Oh Great Is Our God” by Brian Eichelberger
Welcome and Prayer
Song: “Lord of All” by Kristian Stanfill
Song: “Behold Our God” by Stephen Altrogge, Jonathan Baird, Meghan Baird, and Ryan Baird
Scripture Reading: Philippians 2:9-11
Song: “Revelation Song” by Jennie Lee Riddle
The Preaching of God’s Word
Sermon: Jesus: A Greater King
Worship through Response
After the sermon, we respond in a number of ways –through singing, prayer, the Offering, and the Lord’s Supper.
The Offering: As followers of Christ and as members of The Point Community Church, we joyfully participate in giving a portion of our income in a regular sacrificial way.
The Lord’s Supper: As a church, sharing the Lord’s Supper is a significant event where believers gratefully acknowledge the death of Christ as the fully payment for our sin.
Song: “We Have Been Healed” by Rich Gunderlock and Bob Kauflin
Announcements and Prayer
Song: “He Is My Fortress” by Andi Rozier
Every week before we leave, we receive a benediction, or blessing, from God’s Word. Just as the worship gathering begins with God’s call, it ends with God’s promise of his blessing over us as we leave to go and be the church.
Doxology, Benediction, and Sending: 1 Timothy 1:17
To the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.
Under the blessing, grace, mercy, and reign of our risen King, let’s go and be the church!
