Spirit and Truth: 2/17/13

Worship in Song

“Holy, Holy, Holy” by John Bacchus Dykes and Reginald Heber

As we sing, we join the seraphim in Isaiah’s vision as they proclaimed “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!” As we sing, we join the living creatures that John saw in Revelation 4 shouting “Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!” And, as we sing, we join countless believers who have ever sung:

Holy, holy, holy Lord God Almighty
Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee;
Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty!
God in three persons, blessed Trinity!

“Completely Done” by Jonathan Baird, Ryan Baird, and Rich Gunderlock

What an encouraging truth to meditate on as we sing this song on Sunday morning!

The old has gone the new has come
What You complete is completely done
We’re heirs with Christ, the victory won
What You complete is completely done

Sermon Text

Matthew 5:2-12

We’ve been working our way through The Beatitudes from Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount found in Matthew 5. This week we’ll focus on verse 8: ““Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.”
