“Nothing But The Blood” by Robert Lowry
No matter how many times we hear this song, the beautiful truth still remains. We are saved through Jesus Christ alone. No amount of good deeds, no stellar church attendance records, no impressive service for God will ever take away the sin that has stained, corrupted, and ruined us all. It is only through the blood of Jesus. Praise God that He didn’t leave it up to us to fix!
What can take away my sin?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus
“We Have Been Healed” by Rich Gunderlock and Bob Kauflin
The third verse of this song reminds us that we were “straying like sheep” (1 Peter 2:25) but have been sought out by the great Shepherd and carried home. He has taken our sin upon Himself by going to the cross “that we might die to sin and live to righteousness.” (1 Peter 2:24) We seek righteousness not in order to earn God’s favor but because we have already received it through the righteousness of Jesus Christ.
We have been healed, justified
Made alive in the life of Christ
Righteous blood covers every sin
We’ve been working our way through The Beatitudes from Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount found in Matthew 5. This week we’ll focus on verse 6: “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.”
