Luke has a unique view of Jesus Christ that focuses on the humanity of Jesus in the light of being the Son of God. There are more teaching parables in Luke than other gospels and in this verse-by-verse series, Pastor Rick leads us to examine the life and teachings of the God-man Jesus Christ, who is certainly no ordinary man.

From day one we have been a church that is determined to radically reach people with the Gospel of Jesus. We now stand ready to leap forward in faith and take the next steps on this radical journey. This requires EPIC FAITH on our part. The word "epic" is defined as ‘extending beyond the usual or ordinary in size or scope.'

In Central Ky For Central Ky - Our Heart For The City

In the Central Kentucky region (of which Frankfort sits right in the middle) there is almost one million people. Within a 45 minute commute from our campus there are more than 1.5 million people. The Point desires to be a regional church that is helping to make our community and region a better place to live, raise children and work together for the common good of the entire community. The Point is committed to partnering together with other area agencies and groups that have these goals as well.

We seek to serve our community as part of our mission. We desire to impact our community by demonstrating that as followers of Christ, we are here to serve- not be served. We are here to love every person and be part of the community- not huddled up in some Christian enclave ignoring the culture around us. No, we want to be different and authentically Christian while engaging the culture around us. Our motive is not to serve so that we can convert others. Our motive is to demonstrate the love of God authentically and to build relationships that honor Him. Of course, as Christians we are committed to sharing the good news of Jesus Christ as part of our daily lives. It is part of who we are and the love of Christ should naturally flow from us.

Partnering With Churches

There are many churches in our region. Most of Central Kentucky residents have not experienced a life transforming realtionship with Jesus Christ. There's a lot of religion in our region, but most people are not connected to a church.
One of the ways that God has directed that this could happen would be if each church, and each person already committed to Christ, would come together in unity. In John 17 Jesus said that if his followers would come together in unity, the world would know that the Father has sent the Son to them (for them).

It is the desire of The Point Community Church to work together with every local church that loves Christ and loves others. We know that no one church will ever change a city, but the Church (all the believers working together in love, prayer and unity) can make eternal changes in their given community and the world. This is why The Point Community Church plays and active role in area networks that bring pastors and communities of faith together on a regular basis to pray together, share Gods love with others and look for ways to make Jesus famous in our community.

Be sure to check out the CALENDAR for coming events...

Sundays - We gather at 10am on Sundays for worship. There is caring and competent childcare for children ages birth - 4 years. The worship service will last about an hour and a half. Our worship services are simple, with lots of great music that is uplifting and inspiring and a relevant and engaging Bible message from our Lead Pastor, Rick Long. Each Sunday we give our tithes and offerings. Guests are never asked or expected to give money. Most Sundays we serve communion which is open to all Christ followers. You will enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of worship. Come early and visit The Point Cafe' for coffee, juice or pastries.

Wednesdays - Adults gather for a mid-week Adult Bible Study in the main auditorium. One of our Pastors leads this open, interactive and engaging study of Scripture. This time is also a time of prayer and testimony for those that want to share openly what God is doing in their life.

Soon too, additional classes and seminars will be offered during the Wednesday night Gathering.

Kids love Wednesday nights at The Point! This is our main event in the Children's Ministry. Our team of leaders teach a small group Bible study appropriate for each age group. There is always a time of music and interactive learning that applies the Bible lesson for that night.

Middle School and High School students really enjoy PointYOUTH. This time of Bible study and topical discussion helps teens face the tough life of adolescence head on. Our students have a blast with each other and they are always ready for new people. Currently, our youth are using a series called "The Flood". This features a topical Bible study that is both engaging and filled with spiritual truth.

Elders - Pastors/Elders

We seek to be a truly Biblical, New Testament church in all that we do. One way this is expressed at The Point is in the areas of leadership as we implement Biblical Eldership. Essentially our elders serve as shepherds that guide the church. We believe that this leadership model, a plurality of elders, is a true Biblical model of church leadership.

The Bible teaches that elders are the leaders of the church who may also be called pastors, bishops, and overseers (Acts 20:28; Ephesians 4:11; 1 Peter 5:2). The elders are men chosen and called according to clear biblical requirements (1 Timothy 2:11-3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9). The Bible also teaches that God intends for more than one man to lead and shepherd the church as a safeguard for both the church and the man. The elders' duties include leading/ruling (1 Timothy 5:17) managing (1 Timothy 3:4-5), tending the flock/shepherding (1 Peter 5:2-5), giving account (Hebrews 13:17), living exemplary lives (Hebrews 13:7), using authority (Acts 20:28), teaching (Ephesians 4:11, 1 Timothy 3:2), preaching (1 Timothy 5:17), doctrinal instruction (Titus 1:9), and shepherding/discipline (Matthew 18:15-17).

Kids love The Point! - Children

Welcome to the exciting world of children's ministries at The Point! We love kids! The Point Community Church is a place where kids are not an afterthought, they are a vital part of our vision and ministry. We really believe in investing time, resources and energy into the lives of children and their families. There are already LOTS of kids here at The Point and always room for lots more.

Our desire is that each child encounters Jesus as he or she is taught Biblical truths. The goal is that each child will come to know Jesus in a personal way and grow in Him. Our dedicated team of teachers works unselfishly to model and teach the love of our Savior, seeking changed hearts and minds. Our intent is to prayerfully seek God's will and carry out His plans for the lives of the children.

We seek to offer...a child-targeted children's ministry where the Bible is creatively taught and expressed, where its truths are presented in relevant ways, where shepherding children is intentional, where kids are safe to be who they are and ask questions, and where discovering God's truth is fun!

The environment in which children are taught and cared for is: fun, safe, supervised, clean, compassionate, and even life-changing. We absolutley LOVE kids at The Point!

No Title - Preschool (0-4yrs)

Dear TPCC Preschool Parents and Volunteers,

As you know at The Point we are committed to excellence in serving Gods people. The Preschool is an area we are committed to excellence in showing Gods love to families. Over the next few weeks and months, we as a church and you as preschool parents will be seeing changes in the preschool dept. Some of these changes you are already seeing with the moving of preschool registration outside of the preschool rooms.

Our preschool team is in the process of developing many areas from increased security; to a new look with some paint and color, and a learning time with structured curriculum.

As we make changes and develop the preschool please pray that God is glorified and that His path for the preschool is clearly seen and followed by those serving in this ministry.

One of the areas in development right now is policies and procedures. The purpose for this letter is to update you on some of the policies we are implementing. Know that these policies are necessary for the protection and health of our preschoolers. The following policies (in brief form) we have put into practice and want to be sure everyone is aware of them.

They are as follows:

Registration

Located outside the preschool doors. Fill out registration form (for new or first time preschoolers). Preschooler receives name tags, security tags, diaper bag tags, and sipper cup labels. Communicate any allergies or special concerns for that day. Registration will begin at 9:45.

Security

Security tags are given out for each child to the parent checking them in. Security tags will have numbers on them. Please know your number, if your preschooler needs you during worship, the security number will be placed on the upper right hand corner of the screen on stage. Preschoolers should be picked up immediately after the close on the service. The person picking up the preschooler must have the security tag or the preschooler will not be released.

Food and Snacks

We will not be serving food or snacks in the preschool area, with the exception of a special event in which parents will be notified prior to the event. Children are not allowed to bring food into the preschool area (i.e. donuts) Children will be allowed to bring a sipper cup which has their name on it.

As we develop more areas of the preschool we will make parents and volunteers aware of changes. We will also be seeking more volunteers for a multitude of things. If you are willing to help out with this continued development please contact me.

Thank you for your help in ministry!

Blessings,

Paula Long - Preschool Team Leader

We believe in one God eternally existing in three equally divine persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit who know, love and glorify one another. This one true and living God is infinitely perfect in His love, justice and holiness. He is the creator and sustainer of all things and is therefor worthy or worship and adoration. He perfectly and exhaustively knows the beginning from the end, sovereignly rules over all things and providentially brings about his eternal good purposes to redeem a people for Himself and restore His fallen creation, to the praise of Hs glorious grace.

Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father and the Holy Spirit. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for sinners by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven's glory and will return again to earth to reign as King of Kings, and Lord of Lords. (Matthew 1:22,23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5, 14:10-30; Hebrews 4:14,15; 1 Corinthians 15:3,4; Romans 1:3,4; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Timothy 6:14,15; Titus 2:13)

the Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God. He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. The Christian seeks to live under His control daily. (2 Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13, 14:16,17; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 2:12, 3:16; Ephesians 1:13; Galatians 5:25; Ephesians 5:1)

Mankind
We believe that mankind was created in the image of God to have fellowship with Him, but through Adam's disobedience, the entire human race was separated from God. As a result, man is incapable of regaining a right relationship with God through his own effort alone. (Rom. 2:2-5, Eph. 2:8-9, Gen. 1:27 & 9:6, Ps. 51:5 & 58:3, Rom. 5:12 & 3:23, Eph. 2:1)

Salvation
We believe that the blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the sole basis for the forgiveness of sin. Therefore, the only means to salvation is belief in Christ's substitutionary death and resurrection. (Acts 4:12, 13:38-39, 1 Cor. 15:1-4, Rom. 4:4-5 & 5:1, John 3:16, Eph. 2:8-9, Acts 16:31, Eph. 1:4-5)

Justification
We believe justification is the means by which the Believer's sins are completely forgiven in Christ. To be justified is to be made righteous. It is a divine act where God declares the sinner to be innocent of their sins. It is not that the sinner is now sinless, but that they are "declared" sinless. This justification is a gift of grace, by faith and because Jesus took upon Himself our guilt. (Romans 5:9; Hebrews 9:22; Romans 5:18)

Sanctification
We believe sanctification is the process by which the Holy Spirit makes us more like Christ in every aspect of living. God has set the Christian apart for the purpose of sanctification. True sanctification is impossible apart from the atoning work of Christ on the cross because only after our sins are forgiven can we begin to lead a holy life. (1 Thess. 4:7; Ephesians 2:10)

Grace
We believe grace is unmerited favor. It is God's free gift for the benefit of His people. Grace is not the result of human effort. Grace is freely given, because of who God is, not because of who we are or what we do or do not do. It is the means of our salvation. (Ephesians 2:8-9; 2 Cor. 12:9; Romans 6:14)

the Scriptures
We believe that every word in the original writings is inspired by God and without error. It is accurate in all matters to which it speaks; spiritual, historical, and scientific. The Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the foundation of the faith and practice of The Point Community Church. (2 Tim. 3:16, 2 Pet. 1:21)

the Christian Life
We believe that every Christian is called to a holy life of service and testimony in the power of the Holy Spirit, which service includes the propagation of the gospel message to the whole world. There is promised reward in heaven for faithfulness in such service (1 Pet. 1:15-16, Acts 1:8; 1 Cor. 3:12-17, John 14:1-3)

Eternal Security
We believe that because God gives man eternal life through Jesus Christ, the believer is secure in the salvation for eternity. Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by the self-effort of the Christian. It is the grace and keeping power of God that gives this security. (John 10:29; 2 Tim 1:12; Hebrews 7:25; 10:10, 14; 1 Peter 1:3-5.)

Eternity
We believe that man was created to exist forever. He will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is Heaven. Heaven and Hell are places of eternal existence. (John 3:16; John 2:25; John 5:11-13; Romans 6:23; Revelation 20:15; 1 John 5:11-12; Matthew 25:31-46)

the Church
We believe that the church is the body of Christ, of which Jesus Christ is the head. The members of the church are those who have trusted by faith the finished work of Christ. The purpose of the church is to glorify God by loving Him and by making Him known to the lost world. (Eph. 1:22-23, & 5:24-30, 1 Cor. 12:4-13 & 27)

Baptism and the Lord's Supper
We believe that the Bible sets two ordinances, the Lord's Supper and water baptism. The Lord's Supper is to be celebrated regularly in remembrance of Christ's death on the cross, and in expectation of His return. Water baptism is an outward testimony of a person's belief in Christ. Immersion is the means set forth in Scripture. (Matt. 28:19-20, Mark 16:15-16, Acts 8:12 & 36-38 & 9:18 & 10:47, 1 Cor. 11:23-26)

Although labels can at times be misleading, there are certain general characteristics of The Point that are helpful to know.We are evangelical: this basically means two things: (1) we believe that the Bible is God's Word and is therefore our final authority in all matters of life and doctrine, and (2) we believe people need to be saved by responding to the gospel of Jesus Christ. We are essentially Reformed in our theology: this means that we embrace a view of the teaching of Scripture that places God at the center of all things, and places emphasis on the activity of God and the glory of God in saving the lost.We are missional. This simply means that we are convinced that we are to be working to engage our culture with the Gospel of Christ. We do this by communicating God's Truth for every generation by passionately proclaiming the gospel through the planting of churches, serving our community and reaching out locally, nationally and internationally.

Truth is absolutely essential. We want to follow Jesus' example in all things at The Point. God in the flesh considered the Scriptures a natural and vital way of communicating Truth. We treat God's Word as worthy of savoring with our time, attention, and study. We want to live as apprentices of Jesus while learning to love Him more deeply as we know Him more fully. That kind of love can't help but spill over into a greater love for people.

Worship is central to what we do because once we understand God and his grace offered through His Son Jesus Christ, we can't help but worship. Worship at The Point is much more than music. It involves prayer, listening and responding to the Word preached, giving, and lifting our voices in praise to the glory of God.

Before Jesus returned to the Father, He left the church with instructions to make disciples from all nations. A disciple isn't a merely a church-member, a religious person, or a fanatic. A disciple is someone who is captivated with the beauty of Christ and is following hard after Him. We want to be those kinds of believers and we want to help others know Him as we do. We are convinced that the most effective way to spread the Gospel and multiply Jesus followers is through church planting, missional living and serving our world.

Acts 1:8 is our model, "...and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth" Jerusalem (Central Kentucky) Judea (United States) Samaria (North America and beyond) Ends of the Earth (unreached peoples)

About the logo - Who We Are

Here is a brief explanation of the elements that make up the logo...

The four arrows come to a point. The Point Church exists to point people to the cross of Jesus Christ. Everything we are about and everything we do must be centered on the cross. The cross reflects on the price paid for our redemption and the new life that is promised through the resurrection of Christ.

The circle that surrounds the arrows and the cross represents the fellowship of believers that is The Point Church. Our circle of fellowship and love encompasses everyone and is never ending.

The colors of the arrows represent God's sovereignty and reign (purple) and our responsiblity to share His love and guide others to Him (blue) as He draws all people to Himself for the purpose of His glory.

History And Values - Who We Are

Our outreach is to those who have no church home and those who are looking for a church home. Many in our area are disillusioned with religion. They have felt the sting of legalism with its impossible demands. Some have seen hypocrisy. Some people may come from places where the doctrine wasn't sound and teaching not Biblical. Others have had no religious background and therefore see Christianity as irrelevant. At The Point, it's never about a religion but it's always about a relationship.

The Point Community Church began in January of 2006, as God led several people and families to step out in faith and start a church with a fresh vision of reaching this region with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Many of the people that were 'founders' of The Point came from a wonderful sister church, Crestwood Baptist in Frankfort. It is our desire to be Kingdom minded in our approach and partner with other area churches to lift high the name of Jesus in this region. We are not concerned with being a big church, we just seek to be a healthy New Testament church that glorfies God and honors His Son. Afterall, healthy things grow. The Point is a unique church where there is a strong blend of contemporary style and Biblical Truth.

The Values >>

Authenticity: We value Christ-like authenticity, being real with God and with one another.

Prayer: Prayer fosters an intimate relationship with our Lord, so we pray continually as individuals and as a body.

The Bible: We believe the Bible as the Word of God, which speaks perfectly to the practical issues of today as the foundation of all that we do.

Worship: We respond to God's overwhelming grace with passionate love and adoration.

Reaching Out: We want to love people and reach them for Christ in our community and around the world.

Equipping: We believe every person is gifted and called to ministry and we respond by equipping them and empowering them for service.

Community: We seek to connect people so they can experience genuine community, caring for one another and investing in each other's lives.

Membership - Membership

Church membership is important. As a result, joining a church is a decision that should not be taken lightly. When you join a church, a mutual pledge of accountability and spiritual support is made between the church and the new member. Given the importance of this decision, we require completion of Starting Point, our membership discovery class prior to becoming a member.

Step One:

To be eligible for membership, one must express this in one of these ways:

1. Believer's Baptism. This means that you have accepted Christ and are ready to identify with Him publicly by being baptized by immersion, which is the Biblical precodure for baptism and the method in which Jesus Himself was baptized.

2. Statement of Your Faith in Jesus Christ and previous believer's baptism. Christians that are coming from another Christian church will normally come on a statement of their faith in Jesus Christ.

Step Two:

StartingPoint is an overview of the doctrine of the church in the New Testament, The Point Community distinctives, and opportunities for service. It is crucial that new members understand our vision and values as well as our statement of beliefs and doctrine so that as a member of The Point, they can support and encourage the church and it's purpose. Lesson 1: Introduction to The Point.Lesson 2: Gospel TransformationLesson 3: On Solid Ground: The Importance Of DoctrineLesson 4: Leading The Way, Leadership and StructureLesson 5: Together For The Journey: The Family Of FaithLesson 6: Membership Has It's Priveleges

Completion of StartingPoint is required for membership at The Point. The class is six sessions. Each lesson is 'stand alone'. Completion of each of the six sessions is necessary.

*Saturday sessions include all 6 sessions in a one half day class, generally 8am-12:15pm.

>> StartingPoint Audio << You can take 2 of the 6 classes/sessions online. Completion of StartingPoint requires personal attendance of at least 4 of the classes/sessions. Once you complete a class online, please email us and let us know.

Discovering and exercising your God-given spiritual gifts allows you to experience maximum fulfillment with minimum frustration in your Christian life and ministry. For that reason, we are pleased to offer you free access to a web-based Spiritual Gifts Analysis. Based on the team- or task-oriented gifts, this questionnaire and analysis is provided for your personal use, FREE of any charge or obligation.

This questionnaire will help you identify your God-given spiritual gifts. While there are many spiritual gifts, this evaluation covers the nine task-oriented gifts used in daily life to do the work of Christian ministry. Every Christian has a dominant gift and many possess more than one. Through this analysis, you will find out in which areas you are "less" gifted and will also discover your dominant task-oriented gift. You can then begin to concentrate on further developing your dominant gift as you exercise it in daily life and in ministry at The Point. ONLINE GIFT ASSESSMENT

Real Church For Real Men - Men

Men are important to God.

God has called men to lead. We believe in taking responsibility for ourselves, our marriages, and our children. We believe every man is a pastor or future pastor of his family first. He has a calling and a responsibility before God.

Unfortunately, men are usually the first ones to complain about church because it just doesn't feel "manly". We believe we find our perfect example of a husband, father, and man in Jesus--the real Jesus. We're not talking about the ever-so-popular buddy Jesus, or the boyfriend Jesus, or the hippy Jesus with feathered hair. We want the hard-working, truth telling, call you on the carpet, blue collar, calloused hand carpenter, tattoed thigh, hanging with the fellas, king of kings and Lord of Lords Jesus.

At The Point Community Church, we believe men must take the lead. We will challenge you to step and and step out; to take responsibility for your family first and for your church.

The home Bible study groups, known as Point Community Groups (PCGs) are a terrific way to get connected and grow in your faith. Groups are strategically located throughout the area and scheduled so that everyone should be able find a group that meets their needs and schedule.

The primary purpose of these groups is (1) fellowship and community and (2) Bible Study.

Multiplication is vital with PCGs. Once each group grows to about 12-15 people, that group will then birth a new group. If each group grows and reaches out to the neighborhoods around them, tremendous growth and community outreach will result.

The youth ministry is designed to give sixth through twelfth grade students a place to build friendships and a deeper relationship with God. Our desire is that students would build character and commitment to Christ in an environment that is caring, personal, practical, and fun.

Homework, jobs, sports, the arts... Middle School and High School students today have more opportunities to be active than any other generation in history. At the same time they are at the greatest risk of being over committed and having very little room for God. PointYOUTH is a ministry where students can regularly come and take a deep, refreshing breath, hear Truth, and work with adults who can help apply Truth to life.

PointYOUTH Bible Study - every Wednesday at 6:15pm in the student center.

This is an active group, so check the calendar and the youth newsletter page often for upcoming activities and meetings.
