Church membership is important. As a result, joining a church is a decision that should not be taken lightly. When you join a church, a mutual pledge of accountability and spiritual support is made between the church and the new member. Given the importance of this decision, we require completion of Starting Point, our membership discovery class prior to becoming a member.

Step One:

To be eligible for membership, one must express this in one of these ways:

1. Believer’s Baptism. This means that you have accepted Christ and are ready to identify with Him publicly by being baptized by immersion, which is the Biblical precodure for baptism and the method in which Jesus Himself was baptized. The Point may also welcome members who have been baptized as an adult by other methods rather than immersion.
2. Statement of Your Faith in Jesus Christ and previous believer’s baptism. Christians that are coming from another Christian church will normally come on a statement of their faith in Jesus Christ.

Step Two:

StartingPoint is an overview of the doctrine of the church in the New Testament, The Point Community distinctives, and opportunities for service. It is crucial that new members understand our vision and values as well as our statement of beliefs and doctrine so that as a member of The Point, they can support and encourage the church and it’s purpose. As part of Starting Point, an informal interview with an Elder and a signed membership covenant are required to complete the membership process.
